Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Pink and red may have the monopoly on tomorrow, but in my heart white is always boss. Valentine’s Day can be just as romantic in 50 shades of white and any day is super, duper pretty bathed in neutrals. In that mindset, I put together a few things I’ve been coveting, all in the ivory palette, for any of you who are looking to do a little last minute shopping. Any of these would be a perfect gift for the neutral-lover in your life! (Don’t forget how sweet white tulips are. Simple, understated, and perfect. The perfect opposite to the overpriced red rose.)

Do Something

Stop Complaining

via

I have a friend, let’s call her S. S has one of the most amazing families ever. Everything they do, they do with gusto, and because of that, it always seems like so much fun. She has two sons and a daughter. Her youngest will be one on my birthday.

S decided to get into shape after her daughter was born. Don’t get me wrong, she was always gorgeous, and never a “bad” shape. She was one of those women who bounced back from pregnancy pretty easily (or so it seemed to me). But she decided to get up, get moving, eat healthy, and BE healthy. Her transformation was amazing.

She went from a beautiful woman to an even more gorgeous, healthy woman. She became motivation to so many of her friends and family, encouraging them to do the same. She didn’t have a gym to go to, so she worked out at home. She just recently took her motivation to a higher level, as a coach for Beachbody. She gets me excited to get into the best shape of my life after the little man is here. Excited to work out hard, eat clean, and get my lean body back.

I saw this poster and thought of S. And then I thought of all the people who would choose to complain over doing something. Be it in fitness and health, careers, love, family, life, etc. I hoped I wasn’t one of them. Sure, I complain. I think everyone does. But what we all need to remember is complaining does nothing. Doing something, well, that does something. To get results, you have got to do something. To get fit, you have got to get off your couch and put down the pizza. To do well in a career you love, you have to work, hard, to get there. To find love, or keep love, you have to put yourself out there, and become the kind of person YOU could love. In short, you have to do something.

I know this comes right before the new year, and no I’m not encouraging you to make any 2013 resolutions (I’m not discouraging it either!) but I needed to share this. I needed to hold myself accountable. To stop complaining, and start doing. Something.

What are you going to do?

Gorgeous Holiday Prints

91620173641147241_4YRzwjca_c

Oh my goodness you guys. I want to get every one of these prints from Kari Herer and decorate my house with them next Christmas. They are gorgeous, and so subtly Christmas. Who would have thought to decorate your holiday home with NAVY?! You would think it would have been me, but it didn’t occur to me until I saw this.

Now, I need to decide. Navy & beautiful floral prints from Kari Herer or a gorgeous Scottish tartan next Christmas? Maybe I can mix them all together to get a navy tartan beautiful Christmas.

Stop Riding the Penguin

I love these prints from Nathan Riperger’s series “Things I’ve Said To My Children.” Just the idea that he’s said these things to his kids makes me very excited (and weary) for this kid to get here. Especially because he’s a boy. I have a feeling I’ll be saying much more ridiculous things than “I am not talking to you until you are wearing underwear.”

Buy them on Etsy here.

How Wonderful Life Is

By Sophia Cox

I’m slowly starting to think about the nursery. What the crib will look like, what kind of dresser we want, mobiles, toys, rugs, art. Without knowing if this Baby is a boy or girl it’s a little difficult to narrow anything down – but one thing I know is that I will be making a print similar to this for the room, whether it’s a boy or girl.

“How wonderful life is now you’re in the world.” My sentiments exactly. I love this baby SO much already.

Paris in the Spring

There are two things I need more of in my life right now. Watercolor and France. I have been craving a getaway. Maybe because Little Rock isn’t exactly as fun as we had hoped (don’t get me wrong, I’m glad my hubs comes home every night. I’m just not so happy that when he comes home, I’m already asleep) or maybe because I am simply always ready to scratch that itch to travel the world. To see all that I can see. To experience everything, everyone, and every feeling.

We went to London + Edinburgh last Christmas. It was amazing. And it held me over until now. Now I’m jonesing for a sweet little cottage in France, on the outskirts of a nice, bustling village. Somewhere that I can walk into town and grab a baguette and work from a French café. Somewhere I can see castles and cottages. Fashion and farms. Somewhere I can shop at the market for all sorts of little French treasures. Somewhere I can relax, unwind, and be with my love – no distractions, just us.

And watercolor is just beautiful. My new favorite medium.

Caitlin McGauley is Amazing

New favorite product: Custom paintings by Caitlin McGauley. I won’t be mad at the person who commissions lovely Ms. Caitlin to do one of her fabulous watercolor paintings for my birthday. Or Christmas. Or Anniversary. Or Memorial Day. She even does wedding prints. How awesome would that be to have one of these original, amazing, paintings of yours truly in my wedding dress for my wall?

Seriously, I would not be mad at all.
