Saturday Mornings

Saturday Morning in Ocean Springs, Mississippi | R.Simple Life

Saturday mornings might just be my favorite holiday. We wake up before the crack of dawn, thanks to our little alarm clock, and lounge in bed until the sun peeks above the horizon. After that, we all put on our running shoes and head over to the sleepy little town over the bridge from here (Ocean Springs, Mississippi). Harry bundles up in the stroller while Jon and I run a quick 5K over the Gulf of Mexico while taking in the sunrise and water views from our bridge. It’s a perfect time to talk about everything that doesn’t fall into the work category (which, unfortunately dictates a lot of our conversations lately). After our run we grab eggs and whatever veggies look good at the teeniest farmer’s market you’ve ever seen and walk over to our favorite pastry shop where we always get a spinach croissant or two.

What’s your typical Saturday morning look like?

xoxo, Mallory

  1. That sounds so amazing. I hope DJ takes me to see Ocean Springs when we move down there. He says it’s gorgeous. We don’t even know where we’re going to be living yet, but it’s a year away so we’ve got time! πŸ™‚

Ocean Springs is so quaint! You’ll love it. So many of our favorite restaurants in the area are in OS. Also, the farmer’s market might be small, but it’s a great place for veggies and eggs! XO

      • I would love to live there, but he says it’s a little pricey for us. His job is in New Orleans so we’ll be living in La Place or somewhere near there for a little while before even moving to MS. I just want to live in a small town, but in his hometown (Magee area?), he says the nearest store is a Walmart 45 minutes away.

    You two are adorable πŸ™‚
And my initial thought to ” It’s a perfect time to talk about everything” confused me for a second when I forgot that some people are capable of this whole “talking” thing *while* running! πŸ˜‰

Saturday mornings…is it here yet?? French press, lounging, sometimes a big homemade family breakfast at my parents with my love. Bookstore browsing. Knitting. Drawing. Writing. Chess & wine.

Oh, Ocean Springs. Four years there made a huge impact in my life. Missing school due to an alligator sunning himself and blicking the road. Soccer Saturdays. Crabbing. The very visible racial divide in the early 80’s.

Saturday mornings are a bit different on the Wahington coast with my S crew. Homemade breakfast. Snuggles. Beach walks or drives. Working in the yard. Storytelling and writing.
