Fresh Start Fall

R.Simple Life | Fall is a Fresh Start

Fall comes every year, and every year, no matter where we are, no matter what kind of summer we’ve endured, no matter the emotional states of our lives, there is that first cool day that feels fresh. Like a new start. Like a breath of fresh air.

New Years is a time for resolutions, Spring is a time for cleaning, but Fall is a time of renewal. I’m not sure how you feel about fall, but at least for me, it’s time to open up the windows and clean out the closets. To mop and wipe down the baseboards. To fill up bags of old clutter to donate and bring home new (slim cut) baby jeans for the growing babies.

To get outside.

And so, at the beginning of this southern Autumn, I’m cleaning out closets and mopping floors. And I’m spending a lot of time outside with my baby… feeling the breeze, touching the leaves, smelling the sea. It’s so fresh (and so clean, clean).

xoxo, Mallory

Fall has often meant a return to school and cool trail runs on crunchy leaves, but this year it’s meant one yard work project after another before Rainy Season starts.

However, as we drove back from running errands today, I saw a small island with colored leaves on the trees in the middle of the river. I told Scott I’m going to drive out at dark one day and photograph it at sunrise.

I want to savor and soak up each sunny moment, every leaf color on a background of evergreens, and all of the clamming adventures I can. It’s our first fall here and I’m determined to make it more than just yard work!

So, I might just do an impromptu photo shoot with Susanna amid the sand dollars at a beach up north (20 miles or so), or maybe we’ll visit Olympic NP now that it’s opened again.

If you were in Michigan, you would be enjoying the turning of the trees and Mother Nature telling us to look forward to the new year coming!
