35 Weeks

35 Weeks Pregnant

Dress: Gap Outlet; Watch: Citizen

How far along: 35 Weeks. This is going crazy fast.

How big is baby: 5 1/4 lbs! Holy crap. A honeydew melon. This baby is getting big, and I can feel it.

Total weight gain: about +20lbs.

Maternity Clothes: My mom sent me a box of maternity clothes from Old Navy! I’m loving the maternity leggings.

Sleep: Much better this week without a cold. I’ve been so lucky in the sleep category this entire pregnancy.

Best moment of the week: A baby shower yesterday! Some awesome friends here are way too sweet and threw me one.

Food Cravings: These cookies (so good, by the way).

Food Aversions: Not much to speak of.

Symptoms: I’ve got a pretty constant pain (at least while sitting) in my upper back on the right side since there is simply no room in there. And a racing heart. And it’s getting harder to breathe thanks to a lovely little lump all the way up in my lungs. We’re getting to the uncomfortable part, I’m thinking.

Movement: About the same as last week. Not as much as about 10 weeks ago, but when he does move, woah, he moves. It’s also pretty cool to feel my belly now… it’s no longer like a big beach ball, it’s like a baby. You can feel a little back or butt or elbows or feet.

What I’m looking forward to: Christmas! Can you believe it’s in 2 weeks?!

What I miss: A few of my sweaters that cannot be worn due to the extreme lousy weather (75 degrees… I know, I know.) and the fact that I don’t want to stretch out my favorite clothes. And a lot of my jeans. And family, this time of the year.

xoxo, Mallory

You are absolutely radiant, Mallory. I remember those uncomfortable times … though if it’s any consolation, I don’t remember them all that well. You are riding them out with good humor and style. xoxo

  2. I hope I look this great when I’m pregnant! I mean sheesh. And I love that dress. Simply gorgeous. I’m not missing my sweaters too much in this heat. It’s 70 in VA right now with gloomy skies. Odd for us in December but I love the cool breezes outside. Great bonfire weather! Anywho. I hope the rest of your pregnancy is just as lovely.

Um. I love that dress on you. And, once again, you’re glowing. I don’t really have much more to say other than: I CANNOT FREAKING WAIT! And I’m sure the three of you can’t either. I mean, baby soon?! YES PLEASE!

You are doing phenomenal! Enjoy each moment! It happens only once and is so precious! You’ll be comfy and in pre-preg clothes before you know it!

I speak from the events of the last week. After 35.5 hours of non medicated labor, we opted for a single pain med dose and then a c-section as it met our goals of health and safety. Susanna arrived at 0810 on Weds.

The recovery period was not what I had planned nor expected. Who knew that one would swell to the extent that one does post c-section due to the fluids one receives before it (and I didn’t remember receiving)? Thanks to a great group: the amazing nurses, the skill of the docs, my beyond-tremendous-in-all-ways husband, our heavenly li’l girl, my are-they-for-real in-laws?, and smart choices before and after the birth, I can say….

At 5 days post birth, I’m in pre-preg clothes minus some pants due to the continued swelling (which is normal!) and water stuff. All of the planks I did= belly does not look preg and is firm-ish.. not 6 pack, but pretty smooth and 🙂 It also meant that the training I did allowed me to recover very well and pace myself in the hospital. It’s key! Mental attitude does so much too!

Your experience will be yours, but those feelings, I so understand. The day she was born I felt huge and uncomfy. Our bodies are beautiful works of art. My husband refers to pregnant women as “goddesses” and there’s a reason for it. He asked me to share that with you, and hope that it brings a bit of comfort.

He knows that he couldn’t do what we women do! Special Forces or not, it’s not his cup o’ reality. He’s strong, but we are strong in our own beautiful, wonderful, goddess-esque way.

Hang in there and shout if you need anything beyond support (long-winded and true) in a comment on your blog! You are in good company and I hope you know that! (The nurses truly helped me to not feel alone with my thoughts and emotions…so key!)

Peace to you, your hub, and your babe! May it all be what you need it to be!

I’m so glad Susanna is here and safe and sound! Congratulations to you and your hubs Wendy. You must be in (sleep deprived) heaven.

SO good to hear your recovery is going well, even if it is a little different from expected. Let’s hope all the gym time now will pay off for me too after the little guy is here!

      Congratulations again! XOXO
