Today, no matter where you stand on the political spectrum, we are all Americans.
I still remember where I was and what I was doing when the first plane hit. A teacher from next door came in to tell us what had happened. And then it was time for French class – where we sat in silence watching that little tv as another plane hit the second tower and they both fell. I remember being so confused. Thinking it had to be an accident. And then the reality set in.
That fateful day 11 years ago has changed the lives of so many people. The paths people were headed down were suddenly changed. Too many people lost loved ones. My heart goes out to everyone today.
Let us not dwell on the men who did this. Let us forgive, and not hold it against the people with the same skin color, the same accent, the same religion. Let us take today to remember what we as Americans can do when we all stand united.
