Happy Weekend!

follow me on instagram: malloryrecor

Well we made it through our first hurricane and Isaac will not be forgotten in this household. We stayed nice and dry inside, despite loads of flooding in our town and even more in the surrounding cities. We even had lots of flooding on base. Luckily, all we got at our house was a bit of wind and lots of rain.

This weekend will be spent with Jonathan’s brother + some good friends celebrating the unofficial end of the summer season. Hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!

Half Way, No Way

Yesterday, I was officially at the half way mark in this pregnancy. It’s crazy. Do other mom’s to be get to this point and think “Already?” I have approximately 3 articles of clothing, one bottle, a stroller, and a crib on the way. On this side of 20 weeks it feels like I need to get moving. Get that nursery going. Get some diapers. The last 20 weeks flew by, I can’t even imagine how these are going to soar right past us, especially with the holidays.

On the other hand, it feels like this Baby and I have known each other an eternity. I know the way he kicks and what time of the day he’s going to be the most active. I know that as soon as I put my hand on my belly, he will calm down. I know that I will love him forever and will do anything for him. I know that he is my son.

So excuse me if the next 20 weeks are a haze of diaper buying, nursery stocking, and childbirth class taking. It’s all for my son.

20 Weeks

How far along: 20 Weeks. HALF WAY.

How big is baby: 10 inches from head to heel! A BANANA.

Total weight gain: 0.00 lbs gained. Actually, according to my scale, I lost weight this week. But we’re going to hope the scale is wrong and just report 0lbs gained.

Maternity Clothes: Nothing new – but I am wearing a borrowed maternity top in this weeks photo!

Sleep: Still wonderful.

Best moment of the week: Some really great girl (and baby) time with a friend.

Food Cravings: Pears + goat cheese.

Food Aversions: The dehydrated strawberries in my Special K.

Symptoms: Well, I’m very emotional. Quick to lose it. And my mind can not concentrate when I need to be packing to evacuate and I just don’t want to. Also, I’ve been having slight pressure on my back. Nothing bad. Just pressure.

Movement: Jonathan felt Baby kicking! Twice! The hard part though, is that he’ll be kicking away in there, and as soon as one of us puts our hand on my stomach, he stops.

What I’m looking forward to: Possibly an ultrasound this week… if it doesn’t get pushed back thanks to Isaac.

What I miss: Being somewhat emotionally stable.

Radio Silence

Posting may be a little slow this week my loves. Thanks to this guy. Right where the H is hitting land on the coast there? That’s Biloxi. So I’ll be hunkering down, probably up north a bit, staying safe and dry. I’ll try to check in when I can!

Happy Weekend!

Have you ever been to a shrimp boil? I went to my first one last Friday and let me tell you, it was a sight. Two extra long card tables pushed together, with boiled shrimp, garlic, potatoes, and onions dumped all over them, in the middle of a park. And people standing around the edges of the tables peeling shrimp and chowing down. Pretty delish.

Though my weekend will not include another delicious shrimp boil, I will be shopping and decorating, so it should be good. Hope yours is wonderful!

Dream Locale

A dream home.

Are you an ocean or a mountain person? Do you like celebrating all four seasons or are you a fan of the one season – warm – of the south? College football Southerner or NFL New Englander? What I’m getting at is this: is there one perfect location, one fabulous spot, you’d love to live?

If you’re lucky enough to live in your dream locale, we can’t be friends. Just kidding, but know I am completely jealous of you. The military sends us all over the place. We just completed our seventh move in five years. 7 in 5! And let me tell you this… I miss seasons.

I don’t know where my most perfect spot is. I miss the mountains, the hiking, the nature and lifestyle of Colorado. Every day. I miss the lakes, the seasons, the family and friends of Michigan. All the time. I miss what I assume to be the most perfect gloomy weather of the Pacific Northwest, even if I’ve never been there. I miss the lobster and quaint little beach towns of New England, again, never being there.

So really, is there a perfect spot for me? I don’t know. Is this a place: 4 wonderful seasons, with deep snows in the winter, showers and tulips in the spring, warm water to swim in the summer, and leaves and hot cocoa for the fall? Small towns where you know your neighbors and give the mailman a Christmas gift every year? Homes that are not too big, but perfectly cute and charming and within walking distance of water? Hiking and biking and running and walking trails a quick step away? Family close enough to pop over for Sunday dinner and celebrate Thanksgiving around the big table? All the modern amenities within reach, yet all the small town charm?

Because if so, that’s where I want to be. What about you?

Working for the Weekend

What do you do when your hard work all week long is not rewarded with a weekend relaxing with your husband? Seriously what? I need ideas.

Being the wife of a pilot in the Air Force is not always rainbows. Sometimes you’re in bed before your husband gets home. Other times you spend the weekend apart because he has to fly. Then there are trips + deployments, but we won’t even go there. What I’m trying to get at, is you get really good at finding a good girlfriend to have dinner with. You get really good at running errands alone. You find a hobby. You get in phenomenal shape. You learn to like alone time.

But in all honesty, sometimes it just sucks. But really, it probably sucks a little worse for him.

Favorite alone activity. Go:

Blue or Pink?

Today I’m tallying the results of this poll. 55% of you said Baby is a boy, through and through. 30% of you said definitely a girl. And 14% of you just couldn’t make up your minds. Well we know.

(Yesterdays announcements – made by me)

It’s a boy! It’s kind of amazing to me how many of you were right with your gender feelings. I wonder if that’s usually the case – but people just don’t take polls to find out. Let’s start an experiment – poll your friends and families pregnant ladies of the world!

Yesterday the grandparents- and great grandparents-to-be got sweet little cards in the mail announcing that they were going to have a (great) grandson. Now, we couldn’t be happier to share the news with everyone. Baby Boy Recor will be the newest addition to our family this winter – and we could not be happier.

Sidenote: Um, how cute is that card? Red Stamp is a MUST HAVE app (it’s free!) for everyone. You can send (text, email, SEND A REAL POSTCARD) thank you cards, announcements, holiday cards, anytime cards from your phone. You can even personalize them with a photo, your own verbiage, and your own colors. Red Stamp has no idea who I am, so I haven’t been paid or perked for this diatribe of greatness, I just legitimately love them.
